Sunday afternoon, the Yankees lost their third game in a row to the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.
I actually was at the game and must point out that Camden Yards is an absolutely beautiful stadium. The gorgeous weather made it a great day for a baseball game.
However, Yankees fans were disappointed with the outcome of the game. The 2nd inning killed the Yanks when Tejada hit a grandslam bringing the Orioles up 6-0. The game ended with a 8-4 victory for the O's. I know that I am not alone when I say that the Yankees are not playing their best lately.
Sunday's loss was the 8th loss out of the last 10. Their record is now 4-8, New York's worst since 1991. Steinbrenner released a statement after the game:
“I am bitterly disappointed, as I am sure all Yankee fans are, by the lack of performance by our team,” said Steinbrenner. “It is unbelievable to me that the highest-paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk.
“They are not playing like true Yankees,” the owner added. “They have the talent to win, and they are not winning. I expect Joe Torre, his complete coaching staff and the team to turn this around.”
After two weeks of the season, the Yankees find themselves tied with Tampa Bay for last place in the American League East, four games behind the Orioles.
But don't worry New York fans!! Its only April and we all know that the Yanks are much better than they have been playing lately. I have no doubt in my mind that we will see the Yankees in the Playoffs.
These are some pictures I took from the game on Sunday at Camden Yards. Its a really cool stadium!
